Portugal vs Spain line-ups confirmed: Kepa starts ahead of De Gea

Portugal host Spain on Wednesday night for a friendly encounter between the two near neighbours, and Luis Enrique has settled on his starting eleven for the duel with some surprises evident.

The Spanish national team gets back to work following September’s 1-1 draw with Germany, as the coach continues to prepare for EURO 2021.

The biggest surprise is the start given to Kepa Arrizabalaga in goal ahead of David de Gea who starred in that match with Joachim Low’s side.

Luis Enrique is without Mikel Oyarzabal who came back with positive antibodies from his latest PCR test, and hasn’t travelled to Portugal with the rest of the squad.

Dani Carvajal’s absence has handed Sergi Roberto another opportunity at right-back, while Sergio Reguilon gets the nod on the opposite side.

Rodrigo Moreno and Gerard Moreno have been selected up front with Dani Olmo expected to join the attack just as often.

Portugal’s starting XI: Rui Patricio, Joao Cancelo, Pepe, Ruben Semedo, Raphael Guerreiro, Renato Sanches, Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves, Trincao, Andre Silva and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Spain’s starting XI: Kepa, Sergi Roberto, Eric Garcia, Diego Llorente, Sergio Reguilon, Dani Ceballos, Sergio Busquets, Sergio Canales, Rodrigo Moreno, Gerard Moreno and Dani Olmo.
